What is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)?

An LCA or Life Cycle Assessment is a method of understanding what the environmental impact of a product will be across a range of different impact categories including climate change. The term ‘life cycle’ is used to reflect the fact that LCA measures the whole life of a product from cradle to grave.

What is MarineShift360?

MarineShift360 is a modern web-based Life Cycle Assessment software tool designed by marine industry experts for marine designers and engineers to evaluate and compare materials and processes, investigate alternatives and drive innovation. It supports informed, environmentally and economically sustainable choices, by providing a cradle to gate or cradle to grave assessments.

MarineShift360 enables marine businesses to quickly assess the impact of their products, whether individual components or a whole vessel, drive innovation, identify efficiencies and reduce costs without compromising on performance, all at the design stage.

MarineShift360 has been developed in accordance with the main international standards for life cycle assessment: ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006. However, we advise that individual outputs and reports generated through the use of MarineShift360 should be separately reviewed to confirm compliance to ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006 before publication. This process will be straightforward if the MarineShift360 tool guidance has been followed and the built-in report template been used. Sign up for free now to learn more.
